Announcing the Tripulse Canvas initiative

An event! It’s happening! It’s Canvas!

There were some delays while organizing this, but we’re finally ready to move forward. I think we mentioned it in both Tripod 1 and 2.
Tripulse veterans may recognize this event since this isn’t our first time doing this. For you guys, the Canvas initiative will feel very familiar, but now it’s bigger and better.

So what is it?

The Canvas initiative is a Tripulse community project to fuel and encourage creativity and exploration in music by using art as inspiration, along with a little friendly competition.
It all starts with a single word. With one word, we approach an artist and commission them to create whatever they want with that word in mind. We encourage them to let loose and go as crazy as they want without holding back. With the finished art, we then present it to the community along with a couple suggestions for the theme, and you get to work. Your task is to make a song to fit that theme in whatever way you want. There are no genre restrictions, no tempo requirements, nothing of the sort. You only need to try to capture the theme of the art in your song.
It’s no fun without a little competition though, so bring your A game! Submissions will go through a judging process, and we will only select the tracks we believe best captured the given theme. Out of those submissions, we will choose one or two winners and prizes will be had! We will then compile the selected tracks into an album and release it on all major platforms. Depending on the number of submissions, some of those who didn’t make the cut may be included anyway as bonus tracks, or even on an extra album of their own. 50% of the proceeds will be donated to Notes for Notes.

Fittingly, the theme for the first Canvas project is Revival. The lovely artwork for this project was made by Sorixa. You can find her hanging around Tripulse, on Twitter, and on Instagram.
In an exciting development, MeldaProduction has provided a few prizes for this event. MeldaProduction creates the deepest and the most powerful audio plugins with unbelievable sound and tons of unique features you cannot find anywhere else.
Both 1st and 2nd prize winners will receive the extended (paid) version of the MFreeFXBundle, the biggest and most powerful bundle of FREE effects available. 1st prize will also receive a full version of MMultiAnalyzer, the most powerful multitrack analyzer, sonogram, loudness meter, and collision detector available.
From Tripulse, there is a cash prize of $75 USD to the 1st prize winner and $25 to 2nd prize, and a free T-shirt for both. We also may be giving $10 gift cards for pizza to people who participate in both Canvas and the next event while supplies last.
Did I mention that there will be T-shirts? When the album is released, we will be selling Canvas merchandise for a limited time, and 50% of the proceeds will go to Notes for Notes. The T-shirts will have the artwork with everyone’s names on the back!
The deadline for entry is January 16th 2019. Information on how to enter can be found in this forum thread. Share this with your producer friends and let’s make something great happen!
Thanks very much to MeldaProduction for working with us, and to everyone planning on entering!
